Unlike the biker gang of newts on the west coast throwing their toxins every which way, or their salamander pals down south who scurry for the rocks at the first sign of trouble, Newt Fest is small and scrappy, resourceful, all about the love, and sharing our passions for the mountains and the wetlands that we call home.

We wish we could regenerate tails like our amphibious friends, but we decided to focus on generating happy hearts, new community and kinship instead. This place is bursting with poets and storytellers, music and design, and amazing craft-folk both culinary and cocktail inspired by and grown from the best the Columbia Valley and these lands have to offer. So Fest it is! And Newts we are!

Music Spaces & Creative Places

This guy!!! Chad VanGaalen ...well he’s coming by and we’re pretty excited about that. And then we put together a rich and delicious mix of Canadian Indie acts that cross genres and weave little sound webs to play for you and I and all of the critters who live nearby.

The music starts at 8pm on Friday June 12th with live music featuring the fun-loving Jonnor, rambunctious Morri, the ethereal Selci plus late night dance sets of Italia Disco, Alt Pop, German New Wave and more!

Saturday June 13th music starts at 7pm featuring Fawns, Cold Water and that VanGaalan lad with guests. Come for the weekend, a day, or a show. Otherwise explore these Wetlands, fashion a festival scarf, work on a whirligig, or write some fiction. Sunny naps available!

The Newt Golf Art Invitational Putt Putt

A collision that is part Urban Putt (San Francisco, California), part Holoscene Mini-golf Invitational (Portland, Oregon) and party Hollis Simpson Whirligig Park (Wilson, North Carolina), the New Fest Invitational Putt Putt Tourney is a one of a kind in Canada.

Who’s invited? You’re invited! A centerpiece at Newt Fest, we wanted a way for folks to explore the Flyway Farm & Forest while getting to know the artists and visionaries from up and down the Columbia Valley.

We encourage fancy pants, preferably from the 70s, sun visors, and a “hold my drink” level of focus while you and yours play and display through the forests, pasture and historic buildings before and during the festival. Click below for more Creative Spaces jams.

Flyway Farm & Forest

Flyway Farm & Forest is a 5-acre refuge, creative garden, and vintage trailer park. We host 3 modest campsites nestled in the Columbia River Wetlands, a British Columbia Heritage site and Environment & Climate Change Canada Protected Area.

We are directly across from the gateway to the Bugaboo Glacier in the East Kootenay mountains of British Columbia, Canada. The Isle of Dogs is a lovely dog run for your pups while you explore.
